Is Genie Agent usage free?
As checked on October 6, 2026, Databricks says Genie Agents usage by users is free through January 31, 2027. Service principals, the identities used by automated services, are excluded and billed.
Genie Code has different rules. Check the official Genie billing documentation before applying an allowance or promotion to your usage.
Genie Agent reference rates
Genie Agents are curated, no-code agents for targeted use cases. The table separates the current promotion from the rate that applies after it ends.
| Usage | Billing detail | Reference rate |
|---|---|---|
| User usage each month | Free through January 31, 2027. From February 1, 2027, 150 DBUs per user included | $0 |
| Usage beyond the allowance | Serverless Real-Time Inference | $0.070 / DBU |
| Underlying compute | SQL Warehouse and other query compute | Billed separately |
| Service principal usage | Excluded from the user promotion | $0.070 / DBU |
(2) 150 DBUs = $10.50. The exact paid SKU and list price depend on your cloud and region. SQL Warehouse and other query compute are billed separately.

How to review agent usage
- Connect FinOpsWay and open Genie Agents.
- Read the DBU badge beside an agent. Check the badge details for its reporting period.
- Compare similar periods and workloads. Check which identity ran the agent before interpreting usage as a charge.
Example: The screenshot shows 4.35 DBU over seven days for one agent. That means 4.35 usage units, not $4.35. The displayed promotion text is a snapshot; current billing rules take precedence.
